The best back massages.

I hate to brag, but my girlfriend gives some of the best back massages out there. Although she has never had any training as a massage therapist, she somehow has a natural knack for it. For most of our relationship, she has been happy to giving great back rubs anytime I come home from work stressed out and needing a little relaxation. She is great at working the tension out of my tired muscles, making the troubles of the day slip away like nothing else.

When she hurt her wrist, however, I knew that I couldn't ask her for massages anymore. I just wanted her to get better, and that wasn't going to be easy. You see, she had developed some pretty serious carpal tunnels syndrome. I didn't even want her typing at the keyboard anymore. Having her as my own personal back massager was out of the question. Unfortunately, I couldn't do without it. I did not want to go to a professional masseuse several times a week, because it was much too expensive. In desperation, I tried out a home back massager.

It was one of those little vibrating massagers that you buy in drugstores. I didn't think there was much to it, but it was only a few bucks and I bought it on impulse. To my surprise, the back massager actually worked extremely well. What my girlfriend used to do with intensive work and concentrated effort, the back massager would do through simple vibrations. All I really had to do was push it into a tight muscle, and that muscle would relax instantly, unclenching and loosening before the powerful vibrations.

I was so happy with the back massager, in fact, that I decided to go one step further. I invested in a shiatsu massaging chair. It had a back roller, a vibrating chair seat, and a mechanism to simulate the movements of a shiatsu massage. It may not have been quite as good as a trip to the spa, but it was definitely the next best thing. All I would have to do was come home from work, sit in the chair while I was watching TV or reading a book, and by the time I got up I would feel good as new. Not only do shiatsu back massagers relax muscles, but they also get your circulation flowing again with the vibrations. It is uncanny how much ten minutes sitting in that chair can energize me!
